Michigan City High School Students Visit Sullair Booth at Best Practices Expo

Sullair, an industry leader in innovative compressed air solutions since 1965, welcomed Michigan City, Ind. High School Tech Education students to the Sullair booth at the recent 2021 Best Practices Conference and Expo in Schaumburg, Ill.

The students traveled more than 90 miles to meet with Sullair engineers and sales and marketing professionals to learn about the company and the compressed air industry, meeting Sullair distributors, vendors and industry peers exhibiting at the show.

“Industry events such as this are a great opportunity for the students to learn more about the companies, products and opportunities in the technical field – including the need for skilled workers,” said Jeff Rochowiak, Michigan City High School Instructor. “Getting to really see what’s out there can help get these kids excited about a future in manufacturing and better know what to expect when they leave school.”

The three-day Best Practices Conference and Expo is an annual event that brings together companies in the compressed air, blower and vacuum, and cooling industries to share new products and innovations, connect with new and old customers, and attend educational sessions on trends and technologies. One of the featured speakers at this year’s conferences was Brian Mann, Sullair Air Systems Business Development Manager, who spoke on the advantages of variable speed drive controlled refrigerated dryers.

The students enjoyed a box lunch on the show floor courtesy of Sullair and each student received a show bag with giveaways and literature from the various companies exhibiting at the event before boarding their bus back to Michigan City.

Sullair has a history of supporting Michigan City High School Technical Education students. In 2018, Sullair partnered with Michigan City Area Schools to develop the Compressed Air Academy, a first-of-its-kind in the nation. Sullair donated a ShopTek® industrial air compressor, which is installed at Michigan City High School. Throughout the two-year program, high school juniors and seniors learn the ins and outs of air compressors, including operation, troubleshooting, and repair.
