Brian Mann ME, PE, Air Systems Manager for Sullair, wrote an article appearing in the November 2021 issue of Compressed Air Best Practices. The article, titled “Exploring the Total Cost of Ownership of Oil-Injected vs. Oil-Free Compressed Air Systems,” discusses some end-users’ reluctance to transition from oil-injected to oil free air compression technology. Mann discusses why oil free compression technology is perceived to be less economical to own and operate than oil-injected technology and whether that is true or not. As Mann discusses, one must consider the total cost of ownership.
